The Alberta Land Surveyors' Association (ALSA) is a self-governing professional association legislated under the Land Surveyors Act. The Association regulates the practice of land surveying for the protection of the public and administration of the profession.

Beginning in 1872, the Dominion Land Survey laid out the baselines of latitude and meridians of longitude for the township grid system that governs our land holdings and continues to shape our rural landscape today.

Land surveyors lay down the invisible lines that maintain order in our lives.

We take our many boundaries - national, provincial, private residential, wellsite - almost for granted.

The notes, sketches and calculations of surveyors give us maps and plans to order our world and puteverything in its place.
